Purchasing an English Springer Spaniel

March 26th, 2009

If you have decided that you are ready to purchase a dog, and that you want to purchase an English Springer Spaniel, there are a number of things you should know. Although there are a lot of places that might be offering English Springer Spaniel puppies for sale, you want to be sure that you buy your dog from a reputable source.

For those who want a dog rather than a puppy, you should consider adopting a dog from a rescue organization or a shelter. You might be able to find a perfect pet for your family and save a dog at the same time. This is one of the most humane ways to get a dog for your family.

The second best option would be to check to see if there are any serious hobby breeders in your area. For the most part these breeders have English Springer Spaniel puppies for sale that have been well socialized and well treated. It is best to choose those that belong to a breed club. The place where you purchase your puppy should care just as much about how well you will be able to care for the puppy as you do about how well they have bred and raised the puppy. There are a number of listings for breeders on the internet that you can use to help you find local breeders that you can check out. Be sure to research them thoroughly to make sure they are reputable.

You should make sure that you don’t get a puppy from pet shops or dealers that have English Springer Spaniel puppies for sale, as they are just breeding puppies for money without making sure that they do things properly to minimize the chance of genetic conditions. You also don’t want to purchase from a person who just breeds dogs in their backyard, as they are not as familiar with the right way to do things. You also don’t want to buy puppies from anyone who would sell you a puppy that is less than seven weeks old, or any place that doesn’t seem to have clean conditions.

Once you have decided which of the places with English Springer Spaniel puppies for sale you would like to buy your puppy from, you need to choose the puppy you want. You probably want to stay away from the shyest of the puppies, as well as the dominant puppy that approaches you first, as there may be issues with training of these puppies.
