March 26th, 2009

In order to keep you and your dog happy, the dog should have at least some training. You should ask your breeder for English Springer Spaniel training tips since they should know which techniques tend to work best with the breed. They should also have started training the dog already before you purchase it so that it has started to be socialized around other dogs and around children. The particular training that is important depends somewhat on the characteristics of the dog.

Since these dogs were originally bred to be hunting dogs, English Springer Spaniel training shouldn’t be expected to be able to train these dogs to sit still and stay inside a lot. These dogs need a lot of time spent being active and being outside if they are to be happy, otherwise they might end up becoming unhappy or bored, and then they might damage things.

You need to make sure to include at least some obedience training during your English Springer spaniel training. You need to be sure to show your dog who is boss, and to teach him to obey at least some simple commands. This will help you to control the dog in case it decides to try to chase birds or shows signs of being aggressive with other dogs, which can be problems with dogs of this breed.

There are also special English Springer Spaniel training techniques that you can use if you would like to use your dog for hunting. These dogs can be trained to flush and retrieve many different types of birds, both on land and on water. It is probably best to make sure they have some obedience training first, in order make sure that hunting training goes well.
If you need help with training your dog, there are a number of organizations that offer dog training, as well as a variety of different home training programs that you can purchase. There is also a lot of useful information on dog training on the internet. With a little work you can train your dog to be a wonderful pet and/or a wonderful helper on the hunt.
