Adopting From an English Springer Spaniel Rescue Organization

One of the most humane ways to get an English Springer Spaniel is to adopt from an English Springer Spaniel rescue organization. There are a number of different organizations like this around the country, both local organizations specific to a certain area and national organizations that operate all through the U.S. These organizations help to place dogs that end up in shelters and pounds as well as dogs whose owners need to give them up for adoption.

Although the dogs that the English Springer Spaniel rescue organizations are trying to place are in desperate need of forever homes, the organizations will not give these dogs to just anyone. Usually there is an adoption process that you have to go through, beginning with a questionnaire to help determine whether or not you would make a good owner, whether you have a good home for a dog, and if so, which of the available dogs might be a good match for you and your family. After the questionnaire you might even have a representative of the organization visit your home in order to make sure that it is suitable.

Questionnaires used by rescue organizations to try to match dogs with new owners include a wide variety of questions. There are questions about the type of home you have, the members of your family, your finances, whether or not anyone is allergic, why you would make a good family, what you know about the breed of dog, what other pets you have or have had and what happened to past pets, as well as a variety of other subjects.

In order to have the best chance of a successful match, there are some types of homes that English Springer Spaniel rescue organizations will not place this type of dog with. At least some of these organizations will not place dogs with homes with small children due to the high energy level of these dogs. It is easiest to get an English Springer Spaniel from a rescue organization of you do not have children under ten years of age.

Although many people would like to adopt puppies and young dogs, there are a large number of older dogs that the English Springer Spaniel rescue organizations need to find homes for. If you are willing to accept an older dog or a mixed breed or other harder to place dog you are likely to be matched with a dog sooner.
